Over the years, IPI has been a source of technical expertise for many institutions. Most major museums, libraries, and archives have received advice from IPI staff on important preservation decisions at one time or another. An important part of IPI's mission is to play a service and advisory role in the preservation field. IPI offers consulting services to institutions in such areas as environmental management, enclosure materials, and the physical, chemical, and archival properties of various media.
