IPI and its staff have been recognized for their work through various industry and civic awards, including:

Awards Collage

Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (1997)

Technical Achievement Awards are given annually for accomplishments that contribute to the progress of the motion picture industry. A printed certificate detailing the achievement and listing the names of all of the individuals who contributed to its development is presented to the winners at an annual award ceremony.

Fuji Gold Medal from the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (1998)

Honors an individual by recognizing outstanding engineering achievements in the design and development of new or enhanced techniques and/or equipment that have contributed significantly to the advancement of photographic or electronic image origination.

Preservation Publication Award from the Society of American Archivist (1999)

This award recognizes and acknowledges the author(s) or editor(s) of an outstanding published work (audio-visual, electronic, or print; article, report, chapter, monograph) related to archives preservation and, through this acknowledgment, encourages outstanding achievement by others. IPI recieved this award for the Storage Guide for Color Photographic Materials publication.

Silver Light Award for Career Achievement in the Preservation of Moving Images from Association of Moving Image Archivists to James Reilly (2002)

The Silver Light Award recognizes outstanding career achievement in moving image archiving. Measures of achievement may include substantial contributions to the field over an extended period, leadership in the field, work in professional societies or other professional activities, writings or publications, preservation and restoration projects, innovations that advance the cause of preservation, and patronage donated to archives or archival projects. Certificate of recognition awarded to Dr. Peter Adelstein by the International Imaging Industry Association (2003)

Awarded to Peter Z. Adelstein for his contributions to international standards.

HP Image Award awarded to James M. Reilly for outstanding contributions and devotion to the field of image preservation and permanence (2007)

The HP Image Permanence Award recognizes advances in colorant and print media materials that significantly increase permanence; advances in predictive science that increase the validity of permanence predictions or provide insight into optimal storage and usage conditions; and/or educational efforts that raise awareness of the effect of storage and usage conditions on permanence.

Paul Banks and Carolyn Harris Preservation Award to James M. Reilly for his contributions as a professional preservation specialist who has been active in the field of preservation of library materials (2014)

The award sponsored by Preservation Technologies, L.P. and recognizes the contribution of a professional preservation specialist who has been active in the field of preservation of library materials. The award was presented on Saturday, June 28, at the ALCTS Awards Ceremony during the 2014 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Las Vegas.
