Live Weather Data! Dynamic Weather Datasets on PEMdata.org

IPI has just released a new way to access and upload outdoor weather data on the www.PEMdata.org website. From now on, weather data will be updated automatically into your PEMdata account. Instead of yearly static datasets updated every 30 days, you will have weather data streaming live for each geographic location you upload. Weather data is provided by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and will automatically update every 15 minutes directly to your PEMdata account.

PEMdata Weather Upload

All you need to do is to log into your PEMdata account and go to "Upload Data". There you will see "Add an Outdoor Dataset". Choose your country, state and location and click "Upload". The weather data will appear in your list of datasets and be automatically updated for you every 15 minutes. The new weather dataset will include every year of data back to the first weather dataset available at that location – usually 8 to 10 years worth of weather data.

Your existing weather datasets will remain in your account unless you choose to delete them. Chances are you won't need them anymore, but that's up to you. If you have any questions or comments please contact us at ipitechsupport@rit.edu.

What is the Advantage of this Change?
We know that you don't have a lot of time to commit to environmental monitoring and analysis, so we designed this new feature to save you time, as well as to encourage you to use outdoor data in your analysis of the preservation quality of the storage environment. Comparisons of indoor and outdoor data will help you understand the influence your local climate has and the functions of your mechanical system.
