IPI Sustainability Series

Sustainable Preservation Practices for Managing Storage Environments

IPI’s website dedicated to Sustainable Preservation Practices has been updated to consolidate lots of useful information on this subject.

Visit the site to view presentations from Sustainability Series I and II, review ongoing IPI research projects, watch educational videos and more.

In 2014 we will be adding information about Series III including presentation locations, schedule, and registration information.

Good news! The NEH Preservation Education and Training Program awarded IPI funds to develop and present Sustainable Preservation Practices for Managing Storage Environments—Series #3. The two previous Sustainable Preservation Practices series were extremely successful, reaching thousands of individuals in nearly 50 countries through workshops, webinars, and our Sustainability Guidebook.

NEH funding will allow us to continue to present up-to-date information on preservation research along with the tools and strategies that will enable staff in collecting institutions to make informed, strategic decisions regarding sustainable practices that result in responsible collection care, energy cost savings, and carbon footprint reduction.

Series #3 (March 2014 through February 2016) will include five workshops in museums and libraries across the US, and nine webinars on environmental management topics. No fees will be charged to attend a workshop or participate in a webinar. We will also develop several educational videos on topics covered in the series.
